About this circuit

Silverstone Circuit, at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, England, runs 5.89 km (3.660 mi) on its GP configuration, the one used by F1 since 1950 and by MotoGP. It is the layout for the operator's motorcycle track days, with its fast sequences between Abbey, Becketts and Woodcote. Three shorter layouts exist: the 2.639 km National, where the Wellington straight ends at a tightening Brooklands, the 2.97 km International, fast and technical, and the 1.73 km Stowe, a set-up loop. An experienced rider laps in 2'35" to 2'49", an expert rider in 2'23" to 2'35". The three level groups are given shared garages. The permanent medical centre, in the middle of the circuit, has a resuscitation room, imaging and a helipad. Allow 60 min from Birmingham via the M1 and A43, 90 min from London via the M40; station at Wolverton, 16 km. The paddock opens at 7:00 and must be cleared by 19:00, no motorcycle stays overnight in a garage without the operator's written agreement; 20 L of fuel maximum per rider in the garage. The circuit's filling station sells fuel 24 hours a day, by card. The Pit Stop Café serves snacks and meals. The noise limit is 102 dB on drive-by, measured continuously: above that, black flag then a static test at 105 dB; baffles are compulsory in silencers. Motorcycle of 300 cc minimum (or a 125 race bike), front brake lever guard, headlights taped, tyres at 3 mm, titanium sliders and lap timers banned. One-piece or two-piece leathers zipped hip to hip, textile refused, leather gloves and boots, back protector, ACU or FIM helmet, full A licence. The price and the noise limit applied are shown on each track day's page.
