How much does a motorcycle trackday cost?

The real budget for a track day in 2026: spot, options, extras. Concrete examples and tips to lower the bill.

The displayed price for a trackday ranges from €89 for an off-season day to €450 for a premium high-season day at Paul Ricard. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

A complete budget includes: the spot, fuel, tyres, gear (rental or amortisation), track insurance, accommodation and sometimes coaching. Here's the real breakdown, no surprises.

The spot price

Circuit typeAverage priceWhy
Small circuit (Folembray, Lédenon)€89 – €160Short layout, low operating costs
National circuit (Dijon, Magny-Cours)€160 – €260FFM reference, approved standard
GP circuit (Paul Ricard, Le Mans Bugatti)€260 – €450F1/MotoGP, higher rental costs
Foreign circuit (Aragón, Mugello)€200 – €400+ bike transport + accommodation

High season (March–June, September–October) and weekends are systematically 15 to 30 % more expensive than Mondays or off-peak days.

What almost always adds up

Fuel

€40 – €80

Plan 1 tank for the morning + 1 for the afternoon. A 1000 sportbike can burn 25 L over 6 sessions of 20 min.

Tyres (wear)

€30 – €120

A track tyre set lasts 3 to 6 days. Real per-day amortisation. New tyres: €400–600, fitting: €40.

Suit rental

€40 – €80

One-piece leather mandatory. Several organisers rent on-site. Otherwise purchase €600–1,500.

Gloves + boots rental

€20 – €50

Often offered as an option by organisers. CE certification mandatory.

Track insurance (per day)

€50 – €250

Excess buyback or bike damage cover. See our dedicated insurance guide.

Personal coaching

€0 – €180

Free in beginner group briefing. Paid for 1-on-1 or on-track video coaching.

How to lower the bill

Book off-season

A trackday in November or February is 25 to 35 % cheaper than in June, on the same circuit, with the same organiser.

Pick off-peak days

A Monday often costs €40 to €80 less than a Saturday. Bonus: groups are less crowded and the track is freer.

Buy multi-day bundles

Most organisers offer 2 or 3 consecutive day bundles 10 to 20 % cheaper than the sum of individual days.

Share gear

A suit rented for 2: €40 each instead of €80. Same trick for tyres (motorcycle carpooling).

Carpool + trailer

3 bikes on one trailer: fuel and tolls divided by 3. Typical saving on an Aragón weekend: €200 per person.

Hidden costs — what's not in the displayed price

  • The platform commission (7 % at Tarmago, sometimes up to 15 % elsewhere) is already included in the displayed price — verify
  • « Cancellation » or « weather » insurance is almost always optional at booking
  • Meals are never included — plan €15 to €25 on-site
  • Some circuits charge for paddock access or a deposit badge (€10 to €30)

Budget questions

Does a trackday cost more than buying a bike?

No, but with regular practice the bill can climb. A regular rider (10 days/year) spends €3,000 to €5,000 a year all-in. That's a hobby budget, not a one-off expense.

Can you do a trackday without renting gear?

Yes, if you already own a leather suit, back protector, boots and approved gloves. If not, rental lets you try a trackday before investing in gear (€800 to €2,000 new).

Do loyalty cards or subscriptions exist?

Some organisers offer 5 or 10-day cards at -10 to -20 %. Check regular clubs at major circuits. Tarmago will soon launch its own loyalty programme.

Is the price the same for all levels?

Most often no. On a 4-group event, beginner and expert groups sometimes share the same price, but some organisers charge slightly more for the expert group (more sessions, included coaching).

Do I need a bike-transport budget?

If you ride at a circuit more than 300 km away, a trailer becomes worthwhile (saved fuel and road tyre wear). Trailer rental: €40 to €80 per day. Carpooling ideal with 2 or 3 riders.
