About this circuit
The Hockenheimring is in Hockenheim, in Baden-Württemberg (Germany): 4.574 km and 17 corners on the Grand-Prix-Kurs, 6 left-handers and 11 right-handers. You ride clockwise on a track 12 to 18 m wide, FIA Grade 1 approved. The current layout dates from the 2002 shortening of the former 6.8 km circuit. The official map names the Bernie-Ecclestone-Kurve, the Parabolika, the Spitzkehre and the Ravenol-Kurve; the Sachs-Kurve and the Südkurve are in the Motodrom, the stadium section. An experienced rider laps in between 2'17" and 2'29", an expert rider between 2'07" and 2'17". In the operator's open track sessions, cars and motorcycles run in separate groups, without timing. Access via the A6 (exit 29 Schwetzingen/Hockenheim), the A61 (exit 64 Hockenheim then L722) or the A5 (exit 39 Walldorf then L723); Hockenheim railway station is around 30 min away on foot. For open track sessions, you enter only through the Fahrerlager, via the Continental-Brücke. The site has a pit building and three paddocks, Fahrerlager 1, 2 and 3. The day car parks are generally free from 6:00 to 20:00, and sleeping there is not allowed. The Hotel Motodrom restaurant looks directly onto the track; in the paddock, fixed kiosks or the Circuit Diner food truck provide catering, to order for track hires. In the operator's open track sessions, the limit is 98 dB(A), with no published measurement method, and a motorcycle that is too loud can be excluded even if type-approved. Road-legal motorcycle mandatory, valid licence, full protective clothing, clockwise direction, no stopping, U-turns or drifting, no camera on the rider or the motorcycle. By train: Hockenheim station (from Karlsruhe and Mannheim), circuit about 30 min on foot or city bus to the Waldstr./Friedhof stop then about 500 m. Touristenfahrten access only via the Fahrerlager entrance (Continental-Brücke).
Parking
Open-access daily car parks generally free from 6:00 to 20:00 (charged depending on events); parking from 20:00 to 6:00 is a special use charged at €100 per night (except concerts/festivals). The FAQ states that sleeping in the car parks is not permitted. During certain events without official camping, motorhomes and caravans may park free of charge and at their own risk on the H2 lawn opposite the Hotel Motodrom / Welcome Center (no electricity or sanitary facilities, self-sufficient camping).
